I really love reading these from the "other side" - this morning was such a ridiculous concoction of small tragedies that its good to be reminded its a small moment in time :)

“A Ridiculous Concoction of Small Tragedies” by Annelise Roberts. That’s a book or an essay the world needs 😂😘

Oh the accumulation that occurred during the later years of homeschooling and coaching and directing. It's easy to forget that this by-product of a rich and full life will be worth the months of hours it will take me to level that mountain.

“Nothing was perfect. So much was missed and misplaced. So much more is treasured and can’t be lost.” I loved all of this, Tresta.

Don't tell, but I like this essay better than Ms Patchett's on a similar topic.

I loved hearing your voice, Tresta! I’ve been reading The Book of Joy by His Holiness th Daly Lama and the late Archbishop Tutu. One of the things they mention often is the importance of not feeling alone in our pain--or joy. Sorry you’ve been sick. Glad you’re feeling well enough to muster a purge! I need to do the same. But there won’t be any footnotes when I do, lol

Not feeling alone...amen to that. Not that I want others to be sick, of course! It's just the comfort of knowing my frailty is not unique. I wrote most of this last week so I am feeling much better by now, and the purge continues. My kids read the footnotes and are nervous ; )

Really enjoyed hearing you read this aloud, congestion and all. This might be my new favorite way to “read” Substack

I love that you footnote your own words, Tresta.

I love parenthetical expressions, but it gets annoying for the reader. I guess I use footnotes in their place ; )

So many nuggets of wisdom here. Reading this had the effect of warming my heart and making me see the days passing by with a more beautiful light.
