Loved this, Tresta -- both your words and the writing prompt itself. I shared this link with a writing community this morning, and can't wait to write my own version!

Thank you, Ashlee. I’d love to see what other writers find in their exploration of the prompt, and I’m honored you shared this piece!

I love your writing. I really feel you. We are currently travelling, and have to wash in very little water - it’s not easy, and I am reminded of my privilege that I can even say that.

Thank you for sharing x

Wonderful snapshot of childhood life-exterior events and interior workings. Its a wonder to realize how those mundane moments of repetitive practice form us. Keep forming us.

Yes! We are always being formed, and how great that the everyday things are part of that.

What a tender glimpse into your childhood. I love discovering this about you and China, and the cost of getting that horse. I hope you’re inspired to share more of these stories.....My aunt and uncle had sulfur water in their home when I was growing up and I always remember the smell and slip of it. They treated it with something to help the aroma, but it was always there just a bit, and would surprise you in full when you’d open the dishwasher or washing machine--no detergent could overpower it’s punch. Dishes and laundry are two places where stories for writing are often stirred up. I suppose this is a solid nudge to keep doing those seemingly-mundane tasks as if digging for treasure. It’s worth it for layers of reasons.
