It’s time!
Some of you have been with me since 2012, when I started blogging on a website I called “Sharp Paynes” because I thought that was cute. Some of you have signed up to this Substack in just the last week. All of you are an encouragement to me and a reminder that writing publicly is an act of shepherding, because words are powerful little vessels of thought. And each of you knows someone who is the target audience for my book:
Women who want to make sense of their world by controlling it
Those who have prayed “good prayers” that haven’t been answered
Moms who had to learn so many things alongside their children
Christians who are learning to live faithfully with uncertainty
Folks who love dogs and nature ; )
If you would like to be part of the team that spreads the word about this book that has been so long in the making, I would love to have you join me.
Word of mouth is the best advertisement.
I don’t have Big Hustle hopes and dreams, but I have steady persistence and I have hope in the story. I have dreams this book will reach its readers with a slow and gentle message, giving them courage to live their lives with all the beauty God intended and none of the white-knuckle guarantees we try to hold on to.

We will start mid-September. The book will launch and be available for purchase on October 14th, but if you are part of the launch team I will send you a free copy before then.
Here’s the plan:
We will have a private group chat on Substack. If you get my posts via email and don’t use the Substack app, we can figure out another way to keep you included in the chat. But I do highly recommend the Substack app!
Each launch team member will get an early copy of the book as a gift.
Throughout the month of October we will be sharing on social media, Substack, and in real life. I will share graphics and quotes in the private chat that you can use, or you can make your own posts to share with your friends and followers.
Launch team members will buy a copy of the book during our specified time slot on launch day (October 14, 2026).
