Love this, Tresta. I've been having a hard time writing more lately bc I've been reading so much instead. Perhaps I'll follow your lead and write about that. 😊
I love all of the books but what got me to comment was your impressive fall foliage- jaw droppingly stunning! Where do you live that you get such beautiful colors? Signed a fall color starved Texan
Breakfast is also my favorite meal to make, too, especially on the weekends. Also, my husband and I homeschool our three boys, and he and my oldest two are listening to the LOTR for a second time—they love it!
I also just borrowed Maggie Smith’s book and Mary Oliver’s Poetry Handbook. I am halfway through Mary Oliver’s book and am learning that I know even less about poetry than I thought.🙃
That’s how I often feel about poetry! The more I learn, the more I realize I have to learn. One thing about Smith’s book is she loosens the rules a bit, letting poetry be structured or free, slipping it into prose, borrowing it from others.
The book about compline sounds interesting. We started praying Compline as a family a few years ago and it's been wonderful. My kids now have most of the psalms and prayers memorized.
Lord of the Rings was one of my favorite family read alouds. I think I've read it at least a dozen times, starting with when I was a kid. You will want to read it again and again.
This is the second time the Maggie Smith book has come up in a couple of days. I also listened to an interview with her. Going to put it on my library holds list.
Tresta, I read this slowly and with much relish. I'm a big fan of Tish Harrison Warren's work but I think I'd missed the title you mentioned - will be going to check it out now :)
I also raised my children who, along with my husband, were Tolkien fans but have never read the books…and know I should. I was turned off by the movies too, so it’s nice to hear your recommendation that the books are better.
But where to squeeze them in on my already too long TBR list??
It’s truly never-ending. I think we need to refer to it as something besides a list, because “list” infers you reach the end and we know we will never run out of books!

Yes! Do.

Oh, sad Texan! We are in SW Oregon and the colors are phenomenal. But we don’t have armadillos, or sunshine in December, so 🤷🏼♀️
I have The Soul Tells A Story! I journaled through it last year with a friend. I often refer to it. I love that book.
That book on Compline is so, so good!
That’s always great to have all of the family together. Makes a momma happy 😊 🥰

Beautiful photos!
A dozen times!! It’s such a thicky, that’s impressive.
A couple of them were listening to the audiobook on long car trips.
Oh smart

Thank you, Meagan. Happy reading!
I love Maggie Smith's book! I bought Sue Monk Kidd's "Writing Creativity and Soul" this week. I'm only a chapter in, so we'll see how it is!
Ooo let me know what you think! I’m always looking for good craft books.
