I really love this Tresta, I've been thinking something similar recently...just get back to Jesus. I also want his voice to be the one most present in my heart as I try to walk alongside my young adult kids through this loud world.
I read a lot of Cal Newport this summer during a lengthy social media break (one I’m still on, and don’t plan to end, at least at this point), and I’m currently working though Slow Productivity. I think you’re right, the burnout is spreading, and more people are talking about it, and more are choosing to leave these online spaces for something better. Thanks for writing this!
For the past several years, I’ve had a local friend who I regularly disagree with theologically, but it’s always been my conversations with her that have sharpened me and grown me. I’m so grateful for her. Thank you for this reminder ♥️
Amen to following The Way in this generous way. And thank you for sharing my piece. I still stubbornly believe beautiful discipleship is possible, even online. 🙃
It’s just really good to evaluate, often, what we are fed on and what we are feeding. Your post was “another rung on the ladder out of the drain” for me!
Thank you for sharing my post! I really ached for that old Instagram you mentioned that I really did love. It was so fun and light and not-absorbing. Also, footnote 2? Yes, completely.

Thank you, Tresta, for the fine description of all this. It is so needed now as we each forge a path forward into our own real lives.
Our own real lives...yes! I appreciate the work you're always doing and encouraging other writers to do, toward that end, Lancia.

Such good relationships to have.

Blessed are the stubborn, in this case ; )
Wonderful writing, as usual.
Thanks for these links, Tresta! I look forward to reading them.
I listened to that podcast episode from Cal yesterday, right after I shared my post. It was really good! Thanks for sharing my post!

It makes me sad to see pure and simple things become more and more algorithmic (looking at you, @substack 🧐).
