20 years--wow! If that were the case everywhere, I'd never be considered "from" anywhere. I'm 45 and I've moved somewhere near 25 times in my life. 9 years is the longest I've lived in any one place.
And here, 20 years is nothing. If your kin can't be traced back to the founders, then you are and forever will be an auslander. Knowing that clears up a lot.
