I love this meandering musing on life in your corner of the world these days. I’d read a manual if you wrote it, so maybe that’s not as helpful as you hope, as you wonder about what your readers might want to read, but I pray that at the very least, it encourages you to write about whatever things come to mind, knowing that myself, and likely a good many more of us, will be here for whatever you’re serving up. 💗
This quote really stuck out to me: “I don’t want to spend my one wild and precious life complaining.” When I’ve gone through trying times, I so often default to complaining under the guise of making humour or lament.
Also, I agree with Kris Camealy: I’d read a manual written by you! Your writing has this gentle loveliness about it that I always appreciate.
Yes, the complaint/lament! I'm sure there's a difference but the line seems very fine. Some of the things I read David "lamenting" in the Psalms feel very close to complaints, to me.
Thank you for your kind words, Lara. If I wrote a manual it would be in hindsight, as a "here's what didn't work" kind of guidebook! But thank you ; )
There were so many quotable moments in this article. Beautifully expressed and written. I deeply resonate with a lot of what you shared. Being spread thin and the daily wearing down of all the little things has an impact. But thank God for those small glimpses of grace.
What you wrote at the end is so true:
"Maybe the best things in the hardest seasons are simply the five minutes when things aren't hard, and you hold on to that, and you refuse to think about the sixth minute, and you know God is God-with-you, and He makes shade and brings a drink".

You are kind and gracious, dear Kris. Thank you for your presence.
Oh amen and amen to that. All of it ❤️
