"I hold to another perspective: The love of God has been poured out on us abundantly by his Spirit—gushing, running greedily out. When you love more, you love more. All my heart, soul, mind and strength are enlisted in this love, and it comes from a renewable source."
yes and amen.
I think the enemy of our souls wants to straitjacket us into doing nothing creative, saying nothing kind, notice nothing beautiful exactly because That is the Point--to honor God by pointing in His direction with the creating and the saying and the noticing. By lifting others up, by saying a kind word, by making something beautiful with our hands and on and on.
Sometimes when I see how profligate He is with things like maple seeds and dandelions, I wonder if He doesn't just take delight in this world in spite of its fallen-ness. And if He can celebrate, I can at least try. Thanks for sharing this.
Oh, girl. You don't know how much I needed your words today. Have you ever read Tolkien's Leaf by Niggle? Whenever I get overwhelmed with all the beautiful things, this story brings me so much comfort. May there always be beautiful things.
Feeling many of the same things lately, and also thinking a lot about the expanse of eternity, and time for everything….
I love that—time for everything. I really think you’ll be setting up a lovely art room for us ❤️
"gushing, running greedily out" - what an image. I'll hold onto that perspective, too.
(and thanks for the shout-out - I'm grateful you liked that little piece)

You are soooooo right, my friend.
Thank you, friend. Been struggling with
that straitjacket for sure.

Absolutely. I love the Chesterton quote about God delighting in repetition, like a child. I think he delights in profligate excess, too.

I have!! I had forgotten it though. Thank you for the reminder.
